Who may audition?

1) Students who will enter 9th grade this fall through age 19 years
2) Students ages 10 to 13 years may audition for the roles of Young Cosette, Gavroche & Eponine.
Special Note: Due to the minimal overlap between "Les Misérables" and CTE's production of "Willy Wonka Jr," a student cast in "Les Misérables" will be allowed to participate in CTE's "Willy Wonka" as well if cast. This would include incoming 9th graders.

When & where are are auditions?

All auditions will take place at the Elgin Community College's Visual & Performing Arts Center (VPAC) Directions & map to college Register online, check in at the lobby

Tuesday & Wednesday, June 24 & 25, 2008, 6:00-7:00 pm - Students ages 10-13 years old (roles of Young Cosette and Gavroche only)
Tuesday & Wednesday, June 24 & 25, 2008, 7:00 start time; no audition check-ins will be accepted after 9:00 pm - Students ages 14-19 years old

*If you are new to our organization, be sure to complete Step 1 (General Registration) and then go back to complete Step 2 (Audition Registration) or you will not be registered for auditions.  Returning students should check their General Registration record for accuracy of email, phone, and school info. What you need at auditions:

What you need at auditions.

 

1)      Bring sheet music that is reflective of this show but not of the show itself. Examples would be Oklahoma, Brigadoon, Music Man, Evita, and Phantom of The Opera. Selection should help you demonstrate your vocal range and quality. Please be prepared to sing 16 – 32 bars.

2)      You will be asked to make a cold reading of a scene or monologue which will be provided to you.

3)      Both of the following printouts from student's online registration: General Info Printout  Audition Printout
(You will need your 8-digit CTE/FVTC ID to access the printouts)

 

Participation Fees:

 

How much does cost to be in the show?   $190

 

It breaks down as follows:                         $95  ECC tuition

                                                                 $75  FVTC participation fee

                                                                 $10  Cast t-shirt

                                                                 $10  concessions

Fees will be payable at the time of your audition and will be promptly returned to those who are not cast or decide to turn down their part and notify the Producer by July 11, 2008. Without exception, there will be absolutely no refunds after July 11th.

What are the important dates?

Call backs are scheduled for Monday, June 30th at 6:30 pm in the VPAC. The cast list will be posted by July 6th.

A mandatory registration / introduction meeting for cast AND parents is scheduled for 6:30 pm on July 15th in the VPAC. This will last about 1 hour followed by a brief meeting with Committee Chairs to discuss assignmen

Rehearsals will follow a Monday through Thursday schedule starting on July 21st and continuing to Thursday, August 28th. The specific schedule will be distributed during the parent meeting.

Tech Week:

     There will be no excused absences.
 
Due to the Labor Day weekend the schedule has been modified:

     Wednesday, Aug. 27th    6:00 pm. to 10:00 pm.
Thursday, Aug. 28th       6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Tuesday, Sept. 2nd         6:00 pm. to 10:00 pm.
Wednesday, Sept. 3rd     6:00 pm. to 10:00 pm.
Thursday, Sept. 4th        6:00 pm. to 10:00 pm.

When are performances?
Performances:
Fridays & Saturdays, September 5, 6, 12, & 13 at 7:30 pm
Sundays, September 7 & 14 at 3:00 pm
Student/Senior Matinee:
Friday, September 12 at 9:45 am
