This fall, CTE/FVTC brings an exciting new type of performance to its line-up: Slam Poetry. This all-new class will lead each student through an exploration of their unique identity and how the world around them impacts their life. Using both poetry and theater exercises, students will find the most powerful ways to express themselves to an audience. On their road to self-discovery, youth will write in their own voices and share the stories most meaningful to who they are. They will learn not only about themselves, but their classmates as well. This will all end in a collective showcase of fresh poetry. A performance for the whole family, each individual will give us a reason to celebrate what multiculturalism truly means, and how we all benefit from working together as we write, share, perform, and listen. No experience necessary, just curiosity and enthusiasm.
