ABOUT AMELIE KUKREJA

For Amelie Kukreja, her passion for animals and dedication to the sciences have always been at the forefront, but it was her time with the Children’s Theatre of Elgin (CTE) that truly shaped her into the person she is today. Active in the program from 2019 to 2021, Amelie found herself immersed in a supportive and creative environment that brought out the best in her. While her first love has always been veterinary medicine, the friendships and memories she formed during her time on stage have left an indelible mark on her life.

Amelie’s journey with CTE began when she participated in MashUp, where she collaborated closely with Catie E. and Sarah R (2 current board members) on her solo performance. The experience not only allowed her to showcase her talents but also taught her the importance of teamwork and support. She fondly recalls how the people at CTE were always there to help, never to judge, and how this atmosphere of encouragement helped her grow both as a performer and an individual. The late nights of rehearsals, the excitement of opening night, and the camaraderie she experienced are memories that she holds dear.

Now, as Amelie pursues her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at Illinois State University while working as a Veterinary Technician, she reflects on how her time at CTE helped build her confidence and resilience. These qualities are proving invaluable as she prepares for the next chapter of her life—attending veterinary school to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Looking back, Amelie is grateful for the lessons learned and the lifelong friendships formed during her time at CTE, which continue to inspire her as she moves forward in her career.
