Into the Woods is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales in a musical format that follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel-all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them.
We invite you to become a member of our cast! Open to students entering 9th grade through age 22, Into the Woods is a great opportunity for actors to explore a wide array of characters and flex their theatrical muscles!
Auditions will be held July 12-14 from 6-9 pm at Journey of Hope Church in Elgin with callbacks on July 15th.
In addition to actors, we we’re also looking for a puppeteering team as well as Student Assistant Stage Managers and a Student Assistant Director. Please email email@example.com for more information.
The first rehearsal for the show will be July 27th. Rehearsals will be held Monday through Thursday evenings, although not every cast member will be called for every rehearsal. Performances will take place at Elgin Community College’s Arts Center over two weekends, September 10-12 and 17-19.
A participation fee of $260 is due prior to the first rehearsal (payment plans are available during the show registration process). Audition registration deadline is July 8th. We encourage anyone who may be interested in a need-based scholarship to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
At your audition, please be prepared with:
- A one-minute, memorized monologue from any published work that is age appropriate and shows off character.
- 16-32 measures of a musical theatre song, to be sung a cappella or with a backing track that you provide
- Please note that dancing will be part of the callback process, but not auditions.

Cost of participation
Payment is due on the day of the first rehearsal. Parents may either pay in full or enroll in a payment plan by the first rehearsal date. After five calendar days, a $25 late fee will be added to the student’s registration. After calendar ten days, parents can no longer register for the show.
Cost for Into the Woods: $260
Cancellation and refund schedule:
100% refund given if cancellation is communicated 1-6 calendar days after the first rehearsal date. If enrolled in a payment plan, CTE refunds the 25% deposit paid at registration
75% refund given if cancellation is communicated within 7-13 calendar days of the first rehearsal date. If enrolled in a payment plan, CTE keeps the 25% already charged, but does not charge the remaining 75%
50% refund given if cancellation is communicated within 14-20 calendar days of the first rehearsal date. If enrolled in a payment plan, CTE agrees to not charge anything further, but keeps the two 25% installment payments already made.
No refund will be given if cancellation is communicated 21 calendar days or more after the first rehearsal date. If enrolled in a payment plan, parent agrees that the card on file will be charged the full amount at the time of cancellation.
Additional expenses: Cast members will be required to wear jazz shoes during rehearsals. As it gets closer to show time, cast members may also need a basket to hold their costume items and props and their own make-up and hair supplies. Information about other costume needs will be provided after rehearsals have begun.
