2026 BE BISHOP AWARD WINNER – BELLA BYRNES

Bella is a freshman at Burlington Central High School. Her graduating show with CTE was Descendants: The Musical in which she played Fairy Godmother.

“She is always willing to lend a helping hand and is a great advocate for her peers. She is consistently putting her best foot forward in order to grow within her role and develop her skills. Every time I see her, she is always building up the people around her and supporting her younger peers. She is a great leader and helps make the CTE community better!”

“Her kindness and heart are as big as her talent. She is not only committed to her roles and CTE but also to her castmates and friends. She has helped other castmates feel included and seen. I have witnessed her giving advice and guidance to her own peers, hyping up her castmates, and even helping our littlest cast members when they need it. She never thinks twice about giving someone a helping hand or an encouraging word.

Even when she’s shining as the lead role, she makes space for everyone. As a team leader, she’s constantly connecting with the kids on her team. She makes time to check in with all of them, seeks them out to say hello, and cheers them on during rehearsal. She is a strong leader who leads with empathy and kindness. Everything that this award embodies. Bella comes to CTE not only to perform but also to make connections. It’s because of kiddos like her that we have such an amazing community. Even us adults could learn from her great example.”

“She consistently shows what it means to lead with kindness and integrity. She’s incredibly supportive of her fellow cast members and naturally steps into a leadership role without ever needing the spotlight. She makes a point to include everyone, especially the younger performers, and takes time to encourage and guide them in a way that feels genuine and uplifting. She’s the kind of person who talks to everyone, makes people feel seen, and helps create a positive, welcoming environment wherever she is. Her presence strengthens the entire cast, both on and off the stage.”
