ABOUT COURTNEY REED

Now a Broadway star, Courtney Reed took part in Children’s Theatre of Elgin and Fox Valley Theatre Company productions at ECC throughout her younger years.

Growing up doing shows with CTE/FVTC had an impact on her, and in an interview with CTE/FVTC Reed said, “CTE was a unique experience for me that I can say contributed almost entirely to my desire to pursue a career as an actress. I wanted to be just like my sister when I was little and when my sister was about 7 years old she was in the first-ever production CTE put on of “Snow White” in the basement of the Hemmens Auditorium.  It’s funny to think of it now and my experience of community theatre.

Some of my fondest memories onstage ever, besides making my Broadway debut, and debuting in “In the Heights,” were with CTE. I remember the feedback you get from the audience (which was always nothing but support and positive energy). ” Reed graduated from the Performing Arts Academy at Larkin High School, just two miles from ECC, and went on to pursue a career in musical theatre. She made the national debut as Jasmine in Aladdin in 2014, and in June 2023, it was announced that she will play Satine in Broadway’s Moulin Rouge.

As Courtney said in her interview “Honestly, I could talk for hours about how CTE has enhanced my life, and contributed to where I am today, but I won’t. I will just say that I’m so grateful for where I am right now, with much thanks to CTE for that, and I couldn’t be happier.”
